AFRAID OF A TRAIN

I knew a lady named Jane,

Who was afraid to get off a train.

She said, "I'll be fine.

To the end of the line.

Then I'll ride it back home again."

FOR THE LIKES OF ME AND YOU

The sky and sea are blue.

The grass is a different hue.

Whether blue or green,

Both colours are mean

For the likes of me and you.

A GIRL NAMED STU

I knew a boy named Sue,

Who believed everything was true.

One day, with a shock,

His faith took quite a knock

And discovered he was a girl named Stu.

THE TOAD AND THE BUTTERFLY

The Toad sat in the shallows of a pond.

His croaking boomed out over the water.

He was content and wanted all to know.

By and by, along came a Butterfly.

She fluttered out of reach of the Toad's Tongue.

"What are you so happy about?" she asked.

"My family is well and prosperous."

"What is your secret?" the Butterfly asked.

"Come closer and I shall whisper you it"

The Butterfly fluttered close to the Toad.

"What is your secret, then?" she asked again.

"It is shrewdness and guile," came the reply.

Two butterfly wings fell down to the pond.

The Toad's tongue had struck out with lightning speed.

Sometimes, there is no beauty in a meal.

THE ANT AND THE STAR

I want to tell a secret

that I promised not to tell.

An actress loves an unknown,

but there is another man.

She is seen with the other,

but never with the unknown.

All think that she is dating.

No one sees the unknown man.

The Star is in the Heavens.

The Ant runs about the ground.

These two are so different.

They seem unlikely to meet.

Should Star try to visit Ant,

both Ant and Earth would perish.

A collision with a Star

would prove fatal to us all.

At last, I told the secret

that I promised not to tell.

I have told you everything,

but have said nothing at all.

THE EMOTIONS OF SPRING

Spring has arrived with whimpers and roars.

A dusting of snow starts off one day.

Hail and rain ravage the land the next.

Sun, blue sky, and warmth greet the third day.

Lightning and showers roll through the next.

Waves of ever-changing weather broil.

Love can whimper and Love can roar.

Love can be like thunder or hail.

Love can be like rain or like snow.

Love can be lightning or blue sky.

Love can be the sun and its warmth.

Love can forgive or seek revenge.

ONE CHANCE AT LOVE

I heard a small chickadee.

She was perched in some brambles.

Thorns aplenty guarded her.

She and her song were secure.

She was stunningly pretty.

Her sweet song beckoned to me.

Her appearance ushered in

a fine Spring beyond compare.

Last Spring has come and faded

into memories so great.

I haven't seen my chickadee.

I hope that she is faring well.

THE DESERT OASIS

Love

is

a desert

oasis.

The

uncertainty

thereof

is

the

desert,

itself.

FLOWERS THAT WITHER

Love yearns for a voice.

Love longs for full expression.

Love thirsts and hungers.

Love desires recognition.

Unwatered flowers wither.

THE SANDS OF THE GOBI DESERT

Take a look at some of this Japanese man's photos of the cherry blossoms.
(See them at http://kobe-okayama.blogspot.com/). Notice the first comment beside the photo for April 8, 2006. It talks about the sky being yellow from the sands being blown to Japan from the Asian continent. Apparently, these sands come the Gobi Desert in China! The first time that I saw this yellowish gold sheen to the Japanese sky, I was mystified. If a person goes out for a walk during this time, a person gets sand up the nose and in the mouth! Thirst is instantaneous!

Japan has only one true desert and it is in Tottori Prefecture (a prefecture is like a state). This 'desert' is about 2 miles square, but there are real dunes and only sand.

I wish Halle Berry all the best in life and with her new man, Stuart, who is a Canadian of the same height as she: 5'7". He is smitten with her and can hardly wait to be with her. He is grateful to her and for her. He, Stuart, is sorry that another person prevented the two of them from meeting the first time. He says that Halle Berry is one of the kindest, most loving, sweetest, most beautiful, and most talented people.

Halle Berry never dated this Gabriel Aubry, her co-worker. They simply associated. There was a legal problem with her new man and there was a grave misunderstanding that nearly created a rift between Halle Berry and her new man. A third party created this misunderstanding and confusion for Halle Berry.

Halle Berry is one of the kindest, most beautiful and most talented people there is. I wish her all the best with her new man, Stuart.

Ohanami: RESPECT TO THE BLOSSOMS OF SPRING

Perhaps, the best way to express the Japanese expression 'Ohanami' in English is in the phrase 'RESPECT (AND ADMIRATION) TO THE BLOSSOMS OF SPRING'. Here is a haiku in honour of this short-lived part of spring.

HERE IS TO THE BLOSSOMS OF SPRING

One blossom forms as

Another withers away.

Life's complete cycle.
